we are in the midst of defining what it means to be free - for teachers and students
there is no way to measure the effectiveness of a teacher.

purpose of public ed is helping people understand what it means to be free
what it means to be free is helping young people to develop capacity to exercise self-control in finding and fulfilling their own unique purpose in life
ideal model is both freedom and structure, both science and art
