oh my.
taking noticing and wonder and attaching them to school math word problems.
imagine if we let go. imagine if we just let kids (and us) notice and wonder.. about anything .. and everything... and then come to us (or to anyone) with their - need to know - questions. no?

I couldn't agree more. Let's talk reality as startups. Andreessen and Mixpanel Call for an End to “Bullshit Metrics” dthin.gs/V3zeoo

My experience (I am the co-founder of Mixpanel, an analytics company that helps companies like Airbnb, Khan Academy, Dictionary.comMatch.com, and Path) has shown that companies should start by tracking a single actionable metric that they can literally bet the company on. I call this their One Key Metric (OKM). Companies choosing their OKM realize they must pick an actionable metric because pageviews or sign ups aren’t harsh enough and don’t correlate highly enough with the success of their business.

so what would our okm be?

i think it's a collection of flavors of success.
ulimately - a healthy community - like bunker roy shows us...
but along the way.. and then ongoingly... random/eclectoc/non-judgmental flavors of success..

In old age the emphasis shifts from doing to being, and our civilization, which is lost in doing, know nothing of being. It asks: being? What do you do with it?   – Echart Tolle

Petraeus/McFarland convo shows Murdoch plan2run roughshod over American politics w/out pretense of journalistic honesty

literal guns.. literal bullets.. literally hurt/kill a human.
we mourn.
[currently a bigger bullet.. money.. bigger gun.. people caught up and lost to greed. scared people.]
figurative guns (greedy/scared people)... figurative bullets (money).. literally hurt/kill humans and\or human spirit.
we perpetuate the hurting/dying.

@johntspencer @wmchamberlain graduate schools are usually worthless in terms of learning. Introspection, on the other hand

@irasocol And when you push them, it wasn't school they loved so much as teachers who cared about them as individuals #rechat

@irasocol I've met a few who loved school for valid reasons - it was a refuge in the midst of a crazy home-life #rechat

@johntspencer My sanctuary was internal. I daydreamed. I also used to be my own Captain Kangaroo. To this day male voices are soothing.

@irasocol I loved school, was a lousy teacher for a lot of years to. We can change though :)

@johntspencer yeah. The "loved school" group can be very dangerous. I would need to know a lot more before hiring one
