i've learned a lot from Shelly Blake-Polk aka @teachpaperless
he's been paperless for 2 years... and not only has it saved money - he and his students are doing things better.
some interesting facts as of late from Shelly's blog:
- 400 student school spent almost $10,000 this year on paper and toner.
- another school - i think it was about 3200 students said @125,000
then you bring in text books.. how much could we save from that..
iste10 was laden with paper we didn't really need...
we all can think of ways to cut back... a mindset really.
one type of paper that's really been flying before my eyes lately is
paper money.
the government's use of paper money in particular.
i think we are all guilty of the mindset - if something's broken or wrong - money will fix it. i think often times we aren't as smart as we could be about how much to spend on what.
i have kids creating a course on global connections this year. one of their goals is how to help those who need it in a more sustaining economical way. it's popular right now to give money to those in need. that's cool. but what if we can do more... sustain more... if we're smarter.
