Clayton Christensen presents Disrupting Class to Education Commission of the States, 2009

key factor that is keeping schools from innovating

need to standardize for teaching
need to individualize for learning

most students aren't learning very efficiently when they're taught
having a teacher in the middle is
such an impossible problem

delivery of content - to software
mediates that conflict

2009 - 16 billion dollars bringing computers to schools - but no joe
they've been co-opted into the existing models of instruction
we're only beginning to use them in the ways that students learn

we have to focus our limited money on the courses that our standards support
perfect opportunity to try this new way to learn..(perfect transistor op)

today 2009 less than 2% using the computer based courses
2014 - 10%
2019 - 50%
