evolution of a bloodless revolution

evolution:
Focus can no longer be on a fixed content. (ie: 2006 info doubled every 2 yrs, 2010 info doubles every 3 days.) Focus needs to be on a process... a process of finding/doing what you love and then knowing what to do when you don’t know what to do. Erica McWilliams terms this being usefully ignorant. So what we’re documenting is the evolution of this civic need to redefine school. Not a typical evolution, a disruptive one. {is it odd that when i look at the word evolution now - it looks like it’s missing a letter...}

bloodless:
If change is going to happen - for good - it needs to be grounded in 3 human universals (via devijver)
1) we’re all human desiring to be treated as such
2) we all make mistakes - grace (and growth mindset - dweck) creates remarkable stories
3) we’re all different and yet - we all desire good

Our philosophy is that the agenda is everyone’s agenda it’s civic value.

revolution:
We can no longer tweak, no more flapping.
The web is allowing learning to happen naturally. Education works through pull not push. Individually per passion anyone can learn whatever they want. They can gather a tribe, do things that matter, redefine school, make school real life, make the impossible happen, make the world a better place.
But.. for the poor... waiting is too long.
Some of us now know too much. This is now a responsibility... no longer an opportunity.

1) Lots of innovation pockets in place.. very cool things happening.. let’s start documenting those within a global infrastructure.. esp how those people knew what to do when they didn’t know what to do. Video logging, blogging, let’s share what we know, much like Sal Kahn, we want to teach the world.. not just our 80 kids.

2) It’s not just that tech should be like oxygen - and that it needs to be invisible - it’s that it is like oxygen.. and too many don’t have it. That’s deadly. We are modeling the creation of a course per passion... the course is digital equity.. and the first project is global wifi. {my revolution check: i erroneously started thinking we need to build an organic infrastructure - well - maybe - but maybe there’s a more efficient way to global wifi. we’re thinking within the year. so efficiency is key. and - one year is not ridiculous. it’s oxygen - remember..}
