show a people as one story over and over again and that is what they become.
power is the ability not just to tell the story of another person but to make it the definitive story of that person.
the single story creates stereotypes. and it's not that the story isn't true - it's just not the complete story.
the single story robs people of dignity, emphasizes how we are different rather than how we are similar.
but stories can also repair.
when we reject the single story, when we realize there is never a single story about anything we regain a kind of paradise.
