Being a drug addict, Insite freaked me out at 1st, but I have to say Insite is by far the most amazing thing I've seen in homeless services!

Original Tweet: https://twitter.com/hardlynormal/status/530118259778285568

Insite is part of the Portland Hotel Society. They even have a real bank just for street people. Lots of social enterprise. Just amazing

if you're not aware, Insite, the place I am about to visit, is a supervised injection facility using harm reduction to save lives!

#WRECKED this is the most amazing place ever.

Some people simply HATE harm reduction models! To those people I say visit Insite. I feel more love here than I have anywhere else!

DTES messes me up more than LA's Skid Row because of the weather. Imagine all the tents you see in LA & then add rain and cold.

Very, very good article from Carmen Medina. Thought-provoking, especially for cities trying to adapt to 21st c dynamics. While her points relate to corporate culture, these same considerations provide ample guidance to communities. Place matters- serendipity has a spatial component. The discretionary energy can be leveraged, but not controlled. Love this article.
the Harlem Renaissance. It had no director and no script, but it did benefit from the discretionary energy of thousands of individuals pursuing what was most important to them, individually and as freely formed groups.
