@21stprincipal @mthornton78 tinyurl.com/6trpw32 there's a off online of boyd's latest book chapter
irasocol @21stprincipal danah has pursued this in what I see as really valuable ways
irasocol @21stprincipal as I've written, most of the bullying I see in schools was learned in schools, from adults
from this stream:
@CoachBrindle and its full community. Don't you think wrestlers know they rank below football players? @21stprincipal@CoachBrindle it is the hardest thing to tackle. We tell kids one thing, show them the opposite @21stprincipal@21stprincipal as that little video asks, who created the choir? Who gave them status?@21stprincipal who holds pep rallies for one activity but not others? Who discourages and labels difference? Who ranks kids more?@21stprincipal not a statistical thing. Who teaches dividing kids by age, certain skills, more than schools? Who labels kids more?@21stprincipal sometimes QR use this annotated 10 minutes from Lord of the Flies to start the discussion tinyurl.com/7otc947@21stprincipal as I've written, most of the bullying I see in schools was learned in schools, from adults@21stprincipal talk in school does little if you don't tackle the football, soccer, drama, chess status divides as a start@21stprincipal its, for me, a question of whether schools are willing to change their adult behavior, to model something different?
@21stprincipal danah has pursued this in what I see as really valuable ways
@21stprincipal have you read danah boyd's recent stuff? She debunks the anonymity and change myths pretty effectively@mthornton78@21stprincipal just as it used to carry over from school to under the lamppost at night (see danah nous) @mthornton78@21stprincipal if you drill down into that study, you'll see that most cyberbullying is continuation of school bullying @mthornton78
@21stprincipal bullying is learned behavior. Schools, parents, societal leaders all teach it @harrelldewayne@harrelldewayne definitely overboard, but schools need to clean up their act before worrying about the internet @21stprincipal

So evidence (I'm quoting U Toronto), the best way to avoid bullying is to not attend school @21stprincipal
As the school year goes on students report that bullying gets worse and teachers intervene less. @21stprincipal
The place students are bullied most is in the classroom. Second, school corridors. Third, school playgrounds/fields @21stprincipal
