wondering if edreform would actually take off if more read his words.
my biggest take-away:
a new found boldness to share thoughts and ideas that often hit the strong wall of reliability, as well as - some fine tools to help break down walls between reliability-oriented thinkers and validity-oriented thinkers.
one visual i esp like:
from p. 139 - the farther away the part of the company is from the customer.. the greater the reliability bias.
in a great post on finding her element - a @mbteach refers to students as media.
she inserts a quote from The Element:
People who work creatively usually have something in common: they love the media they work with.
and then she adds:
If children are media, this describes me perfectly. It also describes many of the passionate and innovative educators I have met over the past year. Our passion for children and education make us think creatively and take risks and rise to meet any challenge.
i love the visual that i get from this.. like swimming in the kids... like the best research ever... wondering about why they do this, what they were thinking about, how they felt,....
i've always felt it was keen research... but now i believe it.
i now have a greater responsibility to use it as such.
