If you're a parent or a teacher, you need to read this book. Parents should look more closely at what is happening in schools. Teachers, you need to stand by your ideals. Lift the lid. Find out what it's like, from the child's point of view, for those between seven and eleven years of age in a world preoccupied by test results and data? Has the magic of discovery gone out of education? Are young children being taught to dislike learning? Where is the opportunity for self-fulfilment? How did we let it happen and what are we going to do about it? I'm no longer part of elementary education, but it's still very vivid.
