High school teacher @DonWettrick on the cruciality of freedom & autonomy in his classroom:bit.ly/1hoYSyK #edchat
In a networked world, the teacher is more important than ever – as a guide, facilitator and coach who provides frameworks, methods, and inspiration.
or is that describing more.. the one to seven daily group..
we all need people modeling curiosity... whimsy...
framework..
1. known by someone.. 30min. a day
2. talk to self.. listen to gut
methods..
detox - knowing what to do when you don't know what to do
inspiration..
usefully pre occupied
ie: you being you
Teachers do need to help young people learn how to self-regulate their attention and exercise judgement about who and what they pay attention to.
only as in detox...
beyond that .. and you run out of your 24/7.. but mores.. you lose curiosities...
is self-directed learning for everyone?.. like asking if everyone should have a brain.
just because we're not used to it.. and many of us need detox.. doesn't mean it's not for everyone.. no?

WashPost's @ErikWemple insightfully notes a major difference with the first members to join our new venture washingtonpost.com/blogs/erik-wem…
Wrote Greenwald, in part: “I see the value of journalism as resting in a twofold mission: informing the public of accurate and vital information, and its unique ability to provide a truly adversarial check on those in power. Any unwritten rules that interfere with either of those two prongs are ones I see as antithetical to real journalism and ought to be disregarded.” |
