rhizomatic expertise

this idec conference is in the US every ten years.
via Carol this am - perhaps we start being very intentional about - not only youth presence, but youth voice at idec.

our focus for idec is relationship, but also very much via rhizomatic expertise. and via that - a focus will be seeking out invisible or underground voices/heroes that can share stories that will hasten change/freedom.
ie: one of my biggest learnings this week - it's not so much about fixing or taking care (or even trying to take in  the pain of) of the oppressed... as it is realizing they have so much to teach about community. if connections really are our gold... it's more about realizing where our gold lies.

yes- if connections are our gold, who is really rich, let's notice that, gravitate toward that, lean into that, learn from that, it's simple really.
redefining our focus - perhaps - not so much.
rhizomatic expertise - learning from unlikely places - is screaming, and that may be our most difficult, yet most breathtaking realization.

mit media lab has a lifelong kindergarten lab. they are noticing where our gold is.
we focus on so many - in order to fix and manage. what if we just need to realize what they have that so many don't. give and take.

we have all we need.. just not evenly distributed... no?
where is our gold, where are our resources.

the game changes when we center it on trust, rather than efficiency and management. and even benevolence.. ?
