how do we ratchet up opportunities for learners of all ages
vastly improving the opportunity to learn - by providing access..
93 mill adults that are undereducated.. ?
how do we bring in that level of particpation
perhaps take out the compulsory curriculum/standard
14:30 - we're going to be getting a ton of data about learning....
well - not if you keep learning in a box.. the box of what people need to learn.. unless we free ourselves from (i'm thinking it's a myth) the idea of basics or foundation.. that data will be just the same as we've been seeing the last several years, no?
17:31 - more efficient, and how do we look at feedback
this is all completely different if we reimagine learning.. we've gotten good at learning prescribed knowledge.. let's give ourselves an a on that and move on.. to simply learning..

19:42 - personalized learning
this is not the essence we need to be seeking.. ie: pace and differentiation, if we want brilliance and health, et al, we need to facilitate curiosity from within
20:38 - make sure we are doing the right thing.. and lots of research
sorry - but i believe all the research revolves and emerges from a system where there is publicly prescribed curriculum.. we're missing the greatest potential
22 - know your own data
true - good - but still - data from prescribed knowledge - that's not making sure you're doing the right thing for each individual.. i'm thinking, that is their own data - per what you.we told them to learn. that's them managing their own learning.. per what you/we told them to learn.

from our research - which looked beyond the prescribed curriculum.. if it's not my choice... not only does it not stick (plato) and i have a tendency to cheat and or cram the night before (75% of kids do this.. per kids' voice), i don't have enough gusto, grit, to self-direct it..
if however, you set me free, and i follow my whimsy - with instead, a focus on a process of learning to learn, do i know what to do when i don't know what to do.. a whole new ballgame.. and i get myself out of bed everyday.. for that.. i put in the 10,000 hrs..

28 - empowerment
is it really empowerment when it's from the outside in?

34:13 - badging - create - so people can work through content and demo competence to earn badge - really interesting space
well - could be if we got rid of prescription of knowledge... otherwise it's a little better, but not our potential..

35:54 - mooc
as she describes how they worked the mooc - sounds like what Michael Wesch was doing 4 years ago..
watching interactions of learners rather than grading tests...

42 - learning learning positioning tool - or map - or ..
again - yes - let's use tech in these ways - but it's just a bit better than what we've had.. it's not getting at the genius of each individual..
it's not opening any doors for those 93 mill you referenced in the beginning..

for now.. quit listening at 43..  - how about anti-disciplinary..
